A website can look good and still fail at its actual job. Here are the problems that show up most often when a site gets traffic but no inquiries.
There’s no clear next step
Visitors land on the homepage, read for a few seconds, and leave because there’s nothing telling them what to do next. Every page needs one obvious action: call, book a call, request a quote. If a visitor has to hunt for the contact button, most won’t.
The site loads slowly
Every extra second of load time costs conversions, and it’s one of the most common and most fixable problems on small business sites. Unoptimized images and bloated plugins are usually the culprit.
It doesn’t work properly on mobile
More than half of most sites’ traffic is mobile. A site that was designed on a desktop screen and never properly tested on a phone loses those visitors before they even read the offer.
The copy talks about the company instead of the customer’s problem
“We are a leading provider of innovative solutions” tells a visitor nothing about whether this business can fix their specific problem. Copy that names the problem directly and shows the solution converts better, consistently.
There’s no trust signal above the fold
A visitor deciding whether to fill out a form in the first ten seconds is looking for a reason to believe this business is legitimate a client name, a review, a specific number. If that proof is buried at the bottom of the page, most visitors never see it.
Fixing this isn’t usually a redesign
Most of the time, this is a maintenance and optimization problem, not a “start over” problem. A focused audit finds which of these five issues is actually costing you leads.
